Spanish guitarist Susana Prieto and Greek guitarist Alexis Muzurakis made their debut as Duo Melis in 1999 at the International Guitar Festival of Volos (Greece). Since then they have performed in such prestigious halls as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, the Megaron in Athens, and the Merkin Concert Hall in New York. They are in great demand for concerts and master classes at international festivals and prestigious concert series in Europe and America. They have won numerous prizes, both individually and together. In 2005, they successfully performed for the Yehudi Menuhin Society Live Music Now. Duo Melis has collaborated with the Berliner Symphoniker, the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie, the Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie, the Radio Orchestra of Bucharest, and the National Orchestra of Thessaloniki conducted by Leo Brouwer.

Their wide repertoire spans from the baroque music to the music of A. Piazzolla, A. Ginastera, Leo Brouwer, and also includes concertos for two guitars and orchestra by Rodrigo, Castelnuovo-Tedesco and Vivaldi as well as the newly-composed concerto of Marek Pasieczny dedicated to Duo Melis.

Praised by Soundboard Magazine following their Guitar Foundation of America performance as “one of my favorites of the conference; their playing was technically superb, musically convincing and demonstrated fantastic ensemble.”

In 2003, they recorded their first CD after winning the recording prize Citta di Verona at the International Chamber Music Competition “Gaetano Zinetti” (Italy). In 2013, Duo Melis released their second recording to great critical acclaim. Since 2006 Alexis and Susana have taught at the Conservatoire National de Strasbourg in France.

One of the most prominent guitar professors working in Austria, Gabriel Guillén was born in Maracay, Venezuela. He studied in South America with Abel Carlevaro, Leopoldo Igarza, Jose Gregorio Guanchez and Alberto Espinoza.

In 1987 he was the prize winner at the Antonio Lauro Competition and was awarded first prize by Rotary International. During this time he took an active part in masterclasses given by Abel Carlevaro, Rafael Benatar, Bartolomé Diaz and Franka Verhagen. In 1988 Gabriel Guillén moved to Vienna, Austria, studying under Prof. Walter Würdinger and in Zurich, Switzerland under Prof. Konrad Ragossnig.

Guillén gave critically acclaimed concerts throughout Europe, South America, U.S.A and Japan. Gabriel Guillén received the “Merit Award” from the Austrian Government, The Kery Award, The Artinger Award, the “Amigo de Venezuela“ award from the Venezuela Postiva and the “Honors Award” from Caracas-Avila.

Internationally acclaimed artist Gabriel Guillen records for Philips and Record.v4m. He teaches at the Joseph Haydn Konservatorium in Eisenstadt and the Richard Wagner Konservatorium in Vienna, Austria and has given masterclasses and concerts in more than 34 countries around the world. He has a huge following of students in Austria where he is in great demand. He is artistic director of the International Guitarfestival RUST in Austria. He is currently working with the Simon Bolivar orchestra in Venezuela under the direction of Alfredo Rugeles.

András Csáki was born in Budapest 1981, and began to play the guitar at the age of 11. He graduated at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music with honor in 2007, where his professor was József Eötvös. In 2012/2013 he pursued graduate studies in the University of Southern California as a student of Scott Tennant. He received his Doctorate degree in 2014 at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.

Since 1995 András has been a regular participant of international master classes all over the world, including master classes held by Manuel Barrueco, Leo Brouwer, Abel Carlevaro, Costas Cotsiolis, David Russell, Angel and Pepe Romero.

Until the year of 2011 he received 24 prizes, among others he was awarded with the first prize in the 51st Tokyo International Guitar Competition in 2008, and in the 42nd “Michele Pittaluga” Guitar Competition in Alessandria, Italy 2009, Julian Arcas Guitar Competition, Spain 2011.

Besides solo recitals, he is also devoted to chamber music. He has had several opportunities to play guitar concertos with symphonic orchestras in Hungary and abroad. He has frequently been asked to give master classes in various countries, such as China, Estonia, France, Great Britain, Greece, India, Romania, Russia, USA and his native Hungary. At the moment he is appointed assistant professor at Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest.

Gábor Podhorszky studied guitar and chamber music at the University of Music in Szeged, Hungary where his teachers were Andrea Bozóki, Pál Paulikovics and Dávid Pavlovits. Gábor was awarded a scholarship to study classical and baroque guitar at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, which he graduated from in the class of Zoran Dukic.

Gábor has participated in a number of master classes and won prizes of music competitions. He has given solo recitals in Hungary and around Europe, performed as soloist with different ensembles including the World Guitar Orchestra and has also premiered new works for the instrument.

As well as giving concerts and master classes in international music festivals Gábor also has served as a jury member for guitar competitions. Recently he lives in London and Budapest, where he teaches and works as a guitar soloist and as a lead guitarist and songwriter in different bands and other contemporary music formations.

Born in Csíkszereda, Árpád studied guitar at the Gh. Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca where his teatcher was Constantin Andrei. He has participated in various master classes where he learned from famous artists such as: Alirio Diaz, Gianfranco Volpato, Josef Zsapka, Roland Dyens, Waldemar Gromolak, Vladislav Blaha, Philippe Villa, Marcyn Dilla, Zoran Dukic.

Árpád has held several solo concerts at home and abroad but also in duo and trio configuration, flute violin and as soloist with the Debrecen Philharmonic Orchestra. He won 1st prize in duo at the hungarian national chamber music competition. Currently he teaches classical guitar and chamber music at the Weiner Leo Music School in Budapest, he serves as a jury member in various national and international competitions, holds masterclasses.

Ani GAYDAROVA (b. 1989) began her musical studies in her hometown of Rousse, Bulgaria pursuing her bachelor degree in Solo Guitar and Academic Choir Conducting with Univ. Conf. PhD. Constantin Andrei and Univ. Conf. PhD. Ciprian Para at the “Gheorghe Dima” Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca. Amongst her achievements and distinctions we mention First Prize at the International Quitar Competition – Gotze Delchev (Bulgaria, 2002), First Prize at International Competition – Kiustendel (Bulgaria, 2005), Third Prize at International Private Quitar Competition in Sofia (Bulgaria,2009).Also over the years she conducted the ”Gheorghe Dima” Academy of Musics Choir.

Marian BĂLAN (b. 1988) started his musical training in Bistriţa continuing with classical guitar in Cluj-Napoca at the ”Sigismund Toduţă” Music Highschool. In 2011 he graduated the “Gheorghe Dima” Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca currently doing his Master in classical guitar. Over the years he carried intense artistic activities with groups such as Bigg Dimm’A Band, Hot Cluj of Cluj Napoca as well as solo.

Viorela FILIMON (b.1987) attedned and graduated the ”Alba-Iulia Music and Arts Highschool” later graduating the “Gheorghe Dima” Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca. She gained professional experience by working with teachers such as Marko Feri, Dimitar Doychinov, Susana Prieto, Alexis Muzurakis, Yaron Hassan, Mir Ali and as an Erasmus student at the Fachhochschule – Institut fur Music in Osnabruck.

Trio CLUJ started their activity two years ago with PhD. Ştefan Trifan as students at ”Gheorghe Dima” Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca. During this time they have also attended master classes with Adrian Mantu, Ladislau Csendes, Reinbert Evers, Sung Jin Kim having the opportunity to polish their repertoire which varies stylistically from The Renaissance to Contemporary. In 2011 they have won Second Prize at the XI edition of the Transilvania International Guitar Festival winning First Prize the following year.
